We believe you love analytics as much as we do. Putting 3D tour metrics in Google Analytics can give you a clear picture of how people are interacting with your 3D tours, enabling you to measure the success of your content marketing.

Introduction

Cupix automatically sends user events from the Web Player to up to two Google Analytics accounts.  Designate the receiving analytics accounts in Settings --> Current Workspace, where you can analyze basic 3D tour metrics including play rates, engagement, social media sharing, click-through rates, and conversion rates.

Note: You can set up one Google Analytics account for yourself and the other account for your client.

Tip: Events are grouped into three levels in Google Analytics: Event category, event action, and event label. Refer to this Analytics Help article for more details.

Play Rate

The 3D tour play rate (the percentage of Web Player visitors who clicked the Play button) is measured by the Play event category. If the Auto Loading option is off in the Customize Player menu, each click event action will be sent to the Google Analytics account as visitors click the play icon on the splash screen. If the Auto Loading option is on, the auto event action will be sent instead.

Engagement

Player engagement records the percentage of the 3D tour each visitor explored. There are six engagement levels which are expressed as the percentage of:

The area of the 3D space a visitor explored /Total area of the 3D tour space

The engagement levels are:

  • Less than 25% explored
  • 25% explored
  • 50% explored
  • 75% explored
  • 100% explored

Social Media Sharing

All toolbar icon click events are also available in Google Analytics, so you can track the number of clicks on the Share icon if you want to measure the share metric on social media. Facebook, Twitter, or Linkedin sub-menu selections can be identified by event labels.

CTR (Click-Through Rate)

The click-through rate (CTR) is the percentage of viewers that click on any call to action (CTA) are included in your 3D tour. For example, you can track pushpin clicks, hotspot clicks, pano angle and zoom changes in the virtual walk-through, thumbnail highlight clicks, and so forth.

Conversion Rate

The conversion rate is the percentage of viewers who complete higher level objectives (called goals) that are included in a 3D tour or on your web page where a 3D tour is embedded. Google Analytics provides a rich set of features to define goals and to track the conversion rate. Please see this Analytics Help article to learn more.

Getting Started

Obtain Google Analytics Tracking ID

A Google Analytics Tracking ID is obtained from a Google Analytics account. If you do not have a Google Analytics account, you can quickly create one for free on the Google Analytics website. Please read this Analytics Help article for more details.

Set Up Google Analytics Tracking

Enable Google Analytics Option for Each 3D Tour

To enable tracking by Google Analytics, switch on the ‘Enable Google Analytics’ option in the Customize Player menu. You can immediately check the real-time Google Analytics report to view statistics on the people accessing your 3D tours.

Keep in mind: A Standard Google Analytics account refreshes reports once a day. This can delay updates to reports and metrics for up to two days.
