What is a 360-degree photo?

A 360-degree photo, a 360-degree panorama, or an equirectangular photo is a photo that allows you to view a scene from every angle: above, below, behind, and next to you. 360-degree photos simulate the experience of being present in the actual space and are useful for showcasing the interior of buildings. You can take 360-degree photos effortlessly by using a 360-degree camera which can be bought for as low as $200 at popular retail stores like Amazon.com. Even if you do not have a 360-degree camera, you can still take photos with a conventional camera and create 360 photos by stitching them together using free software such as Microsoft ICE and Hugin, or commercial software like Autopano and PTGui.
